Q: Can I search for an imaging study by CPT?
A: The CPT code associated with the study is displayed within the command, but you cannot use only the CPT code to search.
Q: I made a mistake, how do I remove this command?
A: Commands can be entered in error, but not deleted. Please review the Entering a Command in Error document for directions.
Step by Step
This process begins in an open note of the patient chart.
- Type "image" into a blank line within the note
- Select the command by pressing Enter on the keyboard.
- Advance through the fields by pressing Tab:

- ** Image: type the desired imaging test, i.e. CT abdomen
- ** Indications: indications for which the test is being performed
- ** Priority: select priority of test, i.e. urgent or routine.
- ** Additional Order Details: any additional order details that need to be documented for the radiologist
- Imaging Center: the imaging center for which the test will be done
- Internal Comment: comment for internal staff. Field has a 1024 character limit.
- ** Ordering Provider: the imaging ordering provider

Sending the Imaging Order
- Navigate to the DELEGATE button to the right of the command once all fields have been completed to select between delegate or order imaging
- Select DELEGATE to create a task for the care coordination team to complete the scheduling of the imaging, this will display a yellow PENDING message and the blue ORDER IMAGING button. The yellow pending message refers to the TASK pending NOT the imaging order.
OR
- Select ORDER IMAGING to automatically complete the order by clicking the down arrow next to DELEGATE and skip delegating to your care coordination team.
NOTE: Image order will still need to be faxed or printed manually. See below for how to print or fax an image order.
Delegating the image command
Steps for the Care Coordinating Team to complete the delegated command
- Click on the task icon located in the top right of the Schedule View to see all tasks assigned to your team
- Locate the image task assigned
- Assign task to yourself or whoever will be completing the task if not already assigned
- Read comments and complete any request related to this image to complete the task
- Click on the #Patient'sName to open the chart
- Find the command which should have the PENDING message and ORDER IMAGING button visible
- Make changes to the command if needed
- Select ORDER IMAGING and only the PENDING message will be visible
- Click on the task icon located in the top right
- Locate the task related to the image order
- Select Done to complete the task and a message confirming completion of the task will appear along with the option to Undo
- Refresh the chart and the image order will now be COMPLETED
Printing or faxing order
NOTE: If no facility was selected or if a facility is not available, the user can print the order for the patient to take with them from the encounter.
- Input Imaging Command as described above
- Select ORDER IMAGING
- Click on the triple dot menu to the right of the command which will give you the following options:

- Select Print for the patient: if printing order for the patient and a preview window appears from which you can print.

- Select Print for Specialist: if printing order for a Specialist and a preview window appears from which you can print

- Select Fax if you need to fax the order to the facility and a new modal appears requesting confirmation
