The Task command is available for the entry of a patient-linked task from a note or message.

FAQ:
Q: How do I see all of my tasks at once?
A: The Task List will enable you to view all tasks assigned to you or a team that you belong to.
Q: Why can't I select a care team role in the assign to field?
A: If no care team roles have been added in the patient's registration screen they will not show up as options in the assignee drop down menu. A staff member must be assigned to the care team role in order to assign a task.
Q: How do I tell if a task has been assigned to someone else related to this patient?
A: When you are in the patient chart, you can view see all tasks associated to that patient. These are visible by expanding the when the right action panel.
Q: I made a mistake. How do I remove this command?
A: Commands can be entered in error, but not deleted. Please review the Entering a Command in Error document for directions.
Q: How do I print this command?
A: A command can be printed by using the triple dot menu to the right of the command and selecting the print option.
Q: What actions create an automated task?
A: Besides manually creating a task, there are commands that trigger task creation. These commands include:
- Referral command
- Image order command
- Imaging report review
- Lab results review
- Consult report review
- Uncategorized document report review
.There are also responsibilities in Admin: Teams that trigger a task not linked to the commands above, these include:
- Population health outreach
- Completing lab orders
- Reviewing incomplete patient coverages
Assigning a note to team or a specific user will also generate an review note task for the assignee.
Exceptions to posting Rules can trigger a task: ⎻task is created when a remit states "Claim not found" - (i.e. A remit comes in with a claim that we do not have record of in Canvas.) ⎻task is created when a remit states "Payer not found" - (i.e. A remit comes in and we have record of the claim but not the payer associated with the claim.)
Tips & Tricks:
- When creating a task using the task command, you can collapse or expand the command in the note to reference the details of the task. Toggle between these views by clicking the headline of the command.
- When creating a task using Canvas Chat, the task must be viewed on the task list or in the associated patient's chart to review the details of that task.
- In order to assign teammates to a task in Canvas Chat, use the "@" sign prior to the staff member's name.
- In order to associate a patient to a task in Canvas Chat, use "#" prior to the patient's name.

Step by Step:
Create a task within the Patient Chart
- Type "task" into a blank line within the note
- Select the command by pressing Enter or clicking on the command name
- Fill in each field as needed (only the task and assign to field are required to commit a task command)
TIP: You navigate between each field using the Tab key.

- Task: Free text the task to be completed
- Assign to: Designate a team, individual, or care team role to complete the task. (e.g Referrals team, John Smith, role: PCP)
- Due Date: Use calendar modal to select the date by which you would like this task completed
- Comment: Free text any additional comments related to the task which will be display on the task list and the task card in the patient chart as an internal comment
- Label: Add appropriate labels to task

TIP: Task will remain assigned to the original care team role staff member selected even if the care team role is deleted or if the assigned staff member for that role changes. However, if task is part of an automation and the care team role is deleted the automation will no longer pull in an assignee.
Manage and View a Task within a Patient Chart
- Navigate to the desired patient chart
- Select the Tasks icon from the filter panel to open the task cards in a pane to the right of the chart
NOTE: The Task Pane has a task header at the top that allows the user to filter by status (open, completed or closed tasks) and by label.
- Locate the desired task card on the task pane that you wish to view or manage.
- Change the assignee

- Click on the underlined assignee's name
- Make a new selection from the drop-down menu that appears

- Click on the Underlined Team Name or the No Team Assigned text
- Make a selection from the drop-down menu

- Use the calendar modal to select a date or enter the date in mm/dd/yyyy format

Task via Canvas Chat
- Navigate to the Canvas Chat located at the bottom right in Canvas
- Open a message with Canvas Bot
- Type /task within the message box to pull up the task command.
- Select the task prompt by pressing ENTER
- Complete the rest of the task by entering the following information:

- Assignee: Use the @ sign immediately followed by the assignee's name
- What: Enter a description of the task to be completed
- When Due: Add the due date (optional)
- Patient Name: Use the # sign immediately followed by the patient's name (optional)

- A message "Task created." will appear in the chat dialogue box to confirm that the task was generated
