FAQ
Q: Why can't I see the staff member I want to select in the care team drop down?
A: Any Staff member with a staff role that falls under the Clinical Domain umbrella will display as an option in the team member drop down.
Q: Why can't I select a role to assign to a team member in Care Teams?
A: Care team roles need to be added in Settings > Care team roles. See below.
Q: Why can't I see care team roles in settings?
A: The switch needs to be enabled to view this setting. Please contact Canvas Support for assistance enabling this switch.

Step by Step
Enable Care Teams
- The
switch needs to be enabled to set a Care Team. Please contact Canvas Support for assistance enabling this switch.
Add Care Team Roles to Canvas Admin
- Begin in the Schedule View
- Click on the triple line menu
- Select Settings
- Locate and open Care team roles
- Select
- Fill in the appropriate fields
- Required fields:

- Ensure role is available in the care team role drop down in the Registration View
Managing Care Teams in Canvas
- Navigate to the Registration View of the desired patient
- Locate Care Team on the left hand side
Add a Care Team member
- Select
under Care Team section
- Select a Team Member from the drop down menu
- Select a Role from the drop down menu

Update a Care Team member

`Inactive` label to any Care Team members
For any staff members that are part of a patient's Care Team within the patient's profile, rather than automatically removing the staff member when he/she is marked as `inactive`, an `inactive` label will be added next to that corresponding staff member. This is to ensure users are able to see the patient's full care team and make appropriate changes when a staff member is no longer active. Staff members are marked as inactive from each staff member's settings page by unchecking the `Active` checkbox.
Care Teams in Downstream Workflows
Panel Filter
- Refill requests will search by Care Team Lead
- Panel Inpatient stays will display Care Team Lead
Messaging
- Incoming messages from patient app will be sent to the care team lead
- When a care team lead has not been assigned AND no prior messages have been sent to the patient, incoming patient messages will be assigned to Canvas Bot.
- When a care team lead has not been assigned BUT a staff member has previously messaged the patient, incoming patient messages will be assigned to the staff member who last messaged the patient.
- {{PROVIDER_CREDENTIALED_NAME}} & {{PROVIDER_SIGNATURE}} will render the Care Team Leads credentialed name and signature in message/letter templates
- Patient app emails “from name” will display theCare Team Lead's location name
Printed Documents
- Care Team Lead's primary location will be used, including:
- company name
- address
- phone
- fax number on footer/header
- Lab order
- Ordering site number
- fax
- name
- Full Chart PDF printout will Display Care Team Lead
- Vitals printout will display Care Team Lead name
- Print specimen label displays Care Team Lead in ORDERED BY field
Populations
- Filter by Care Team Lead
- Populations intervention a message includes Care Team Lead name or intervention’s author if care lead is none
Data Export
- The following fields will return Care Team Lead name:
- Continuity of Care > author
- Continuity of Care > provider
- Referral > author
- Referral > provider
Data Integration
- Reviewer defaults to the patient’s Care Team Lead
- Copy will also change
Health Gorilla
- Ordering provider fallbacks to Care Team Lead, if original provider does not have a valid NPI
- Reviewer falls back to Care Team Lead, if NPI given by Health Gorilla cannot be found
Medications
- ChangeRequest search will search on care lead
- PrescriptionAlert search will search on care lead
Google-Delivered Reports
- dump_demografics (Patient List Google Delivered Report) will rename PCP First Name and PCP First Name to Care Team Lead
